How challenging is the trek, and when is the optimal time to go on it?

The trek is moderately challenging, suitable for enthusiasts with a good fitness level. The best times are pre-monsoon (spring: Feb to May) and post-monsoon (autumn: September to December ) for stable weather and clear views.

What is the altitude, and what are the recommended methods for acclimatization?

The trek encompasses altitudes surpassing 5,000 meters. Incorporating acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar and Gokyo, coupled with a gradual ascent, facilitates your body's adaptation to the high altitude. Prioritize staying well-hydrated, pay attention to your body's signals, ascend slowly, ensure sufficient sleep at lower altitudes, consume ample water, opt for fresh food over processed options, and dine at teahouses for a more reliable culinary experience, as finding suitable food options outside may prove challenging

How long does the daily trekking typically last in terms of hours?

The duration of daily trekking hours fluctuates but typically spans between 4 to 8 hours, contingent upon the terrain and the designated destination for the day

What permits are required for the trek?

Certainly! A Sagarmatha National Park entry permit and a TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) card are required. Our team will provide assistance in obtaining these permits.

What is the contingency plan if the Lukla flight is canceled?

One alternative is to arrange a helicopter flight to Lukla. It's important to communicate promptly with your travel agents or guide to explore this option, as helicopter availability is time-sensitive and booking in advance is advisable. Helicopter prices may vary, and in case of a cancellation, an approximate cost of around $500 per person is expected. You can later seek a refund from your travel insurance.

Driving to the trek start point is another option, although it takes a longer time. If both options are not feasible, there is a possibility of diverting the trek to an alternative route or region. Embarking on the EBC via Gokyo Lakes Trek is an exciting journey, and understanding potential extra personal expenses is crucial for a well-prepared trek. Here's what you need to know:

1. Teahouse Accommodations: While basic accommodations are included, any upgrades or additional services in teahouses, such as hot showers, Wi-Fi, or charging facilities, may incur extra charges.

2. Meals and Snacks: While most meals are covered in the trek cost, any additional snacks, beverages, or special dietary requests beyond the standard menu may result in extra expenses.

3. Drinking Water: Purchasing bottled water along the trail can add to costs. Consider using water purification tablets or a refillable water bottle with a purification system to reduce expenses.

4. Charging Devices: Charging electronic devices in teahouses may have a nominal fee. Bringing a power bank and spare batteries is advisable for additional convenience.

5. Equipment Rental: If you choose to rent trekking equipment, such as sleeping bags or trekking poles, additional fees may apply. However, bringing your own gear is a cost-effective option.

6. Tips for Guides and Porters: While tipping is discretionary, it is customary to show appreciation for the hard work of guides and porters. Budgeting for tips is recommended.

7. Optional Excursions: Side trips, additional tours, or cultural experiences beyond the standard itinerary may involve extra costs. Plan and budget accordingly if you wish to explore more.

8. Emergency Expenses: Unexpected situations, such as unforeseen health issues or changes in the itinerary, may incur extra expenses. Having a contingency fund for emergencies is a prudent approach.

Understanding and planning for these extra personal expenses ensures you have a comprehensive budget for your Everest adventure. Our team is here to provide guidance and assist you in making the most of your trekking experience. Enjoy every moment as you explore the breathtaking landscapes of the Everest region!

Embarking on the EBC via Gokyo Lakes Trek is an exhilarating adventure, but understanding the weather conditions and potential flight disruptions is crucial for a seamless journey.

Weather Conditions: During the trekking seasons of spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), the weather in the Everest region is generally stable, offering clear skies and optimal trekking conditions. However, temperatures can vary, so packing layers is essential. Be prepared for cold nights and fluctuating weather as you ascend to higher altitudes.

Flight Updates: Flight cancellations due to weather conditions, especially in Lukla, are not uncommon. The short and challenging airstrip makes Lukla flights weather-dependent. In such instances, our experienced team will keep you informed about any flight changes and work diligently to reschedule or provide alternative arrangements. Flexibility is key, and our priority is ensuring your safety and a smooth trekking experience.

Top Tip: Consider building a buffer into your itinerary, allowing for potential flight delays. This strategic planning ensures you have ample time to reach Lukla and begin your trek, even if there are unforeseen disruptions.

Our dedicated team is committed to providing timely updates, ensuring you can navigate the Everest region with confidence. Let your adventure unfold seamlessly, embracing the unpredictable beauty of the Himalayas.

When embarking on the EBC via Gokyo Lakes Trek, having an emergency fund is crucial for a smooth and secure journey. Here's a quick guide:

1. Health and Medical Expenses: Allocate funds for unexpected health issues, medications, or medical services that may arise during the trek.

2. Evacuation Costs: In case of emergency evacuations due to altitude sickness or unforeseen circumstances, having a designated fund ensures swift action without financial strain.

3. Unforeseen Expenses: Prepare for unexpected situations, such as itinerary changes or additional accommodation costs due to weather disruptions.

4. Equipment Replacement: In the event of equipment failure or loss, having an emergency fund allows for the replacement or rental of necessary gear.

5. Tips and Gratuity: While discretionary, setting aside funds for tips to guides and porters is customary and appreciated.

6. Contingency Planning: Maintain a safety net for any unforeseen challenges, ensuring you have the financial flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.

Prioritize your safety and peace of mind by establishing a well-thought-out emergency fund. This proactive approach ensures you can navigate any unexpected situations during your Everest adventure without unnecessary stress.

Amazing Life Experience

20th August, 2021

Can't stress enough how great of an experience it was hiking to Everest Base Camp. My father and I did a 14 day trek through Gokyo Ri, Cho La Pass and then to Everest Base Camp with Prem as our guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and is just an all around great person. Very personable, good sense of humor, and has the upmost respect for both you and the Himalayas. He knows many locals along the trail and was kind enough to introduce us to some of these very welcoming people, and even took the time to teach me some of the local languages and cultural traditions of the region. The people, culture, and mountains that are Nepal, are something you can't trade for anything. I will most definitely be coming back and will recommend Prem and his team every time.

Fantastic Gokyo Chola Pass via Everest Base Camp Trek

15th February, 2023

Our trip to the mountains was fantastic, and we were very lucky to have mostly clear skies each day. Even if you are moderately fit, the walking was challenging each day. After departing from the EBC and Gokyo Chola Pass Trek route, the path became much quieter and peaceful. It was an experience I will never forget.

The service provided by Prem was excellent. The trip was booked last minute (a week before departure), but all information and confirmation were provided promptly. It was a nice touch that he waited at the hotel for me on arrival and after the hike to give me a briefing and to allow me to provide feedback.

It was a pleasure to work with Prem and his team. On arrival in Kathmandu, he met me at the airport and transferred me to the hotel.

Fantastic service throughout the trip, always happy to answer questions and Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, he was waiting to pick me up and take me to my hotel always with a smile! Huge thanks to both for such a fantastic experience.

Managed to be on flights in and out of Kathmandu airport, he met me at the airport and transferred me to the hotel

I Would highly recommend the company without hesitation, I am coming back for Next Trek.

Thank You Prem and Sole Encounters Trekking Pvt.Ltd

Supporting and Knowledge Team

10th February, 2023

We Just returned from Trek having completed the Gokya  Via everest base camp  Honestly I will highly recommend doing this trip with Sole Encounters Trekking Pvt.Ltd

our Leader knowledgeable and his team were all great and couldnt do enough to ensure that everyone in the party reached their goals and as comfortable as possible. Nothing was ever an issued

The supporting team of porters/assitant guides were amazing and ensure our bags got to our destination safely & I could not have completed this trip without them.

The itinerary was put perfectly together to ensure as many people completed it as possible with appropriate amount of acclimatisation days along the route.

Whilst there are shorter routes Everest Case camp We highly recommend taking in the longer route that encompasses Gyoko lakes and the Cho lo pass amongst many other special places on this route, which imho overshadows everest base camp ( perfects )

I hope to keep in touch with everyone from this trip, including the guides as everyone contributed to a very special trip and it could not have been the same without them We really thanks made us one of the best experience & great trip

Unforgettable Trek Ever-Everest Base Camp with Sole encounters Trekking Company

30th June, 2023

Tour Company proved to be an outstanding organization right from the beginning. The flow of information from Sole Encounters was excellent, and they promptly and comprehensively responded to all my queries. Upon arrival at Kathmandu Airport, we were greeted by the wonderful and cheerful guide, Prem tamang , who escorted us to our excellent hotel and arranged a pre-tour briefing for the following day. Prem Tamang conducted a thorough and informative briefing, leaving us well-prepared for our upcoming trek.

For the next 12 days, we embarked on a trek in the Himalayas to Gokyo via EBC and back, accompanied by my friends and supported by Ramesh, assistant guide Sancha Rai, and an amazing team of porters including Hero, Rosan, Anil, and Bikash. Along the way, we met fellow trekkers who shared stories of group members unable to reach EBC due to altitude sickness. However, our entire group of 9 successfully made it! This achievement was undoubtedly made possible by the incredible support and knowledge imparted by Maddy throughout the trek. Each evening after dinner, we received a detailed briefing about the next day's plans, including trekking duration, recommended clothing, lunch stop information, and expected altitudes. Trekking at high altitudes should not be underestimated, but with proper mental preparation and Maddy's constant guidance, we encountered no surprises. In my humble opinion, anyone with a reasonable level of cardiovascular fitness can undertake this trek, regardless of age (I'm 65). However, having someone watching over you every step of the way makes a tremendous difference.

Out of our group of 11 but 6 members took Diamox to combat the effects of altitude, while the other two experienced severe symptoms until they started taking it. There are varying opinions on whether to take Diamox or not, so it's important to conduct your own research and consult with a medical professional. Here are some additional tips that you may find useful:

  • Apply for your Nepal visa online and bring $50 in cash (as of May 2023) to pay for your visa at the airport, saving you from queuing.
  • You can purchase a local SIM card at the airport after collecting your baggage, and surprisingly, 3G/4G connectivity is available during much of the trek, including base camp!
  • Most of your trekking gear can be purchased in Kathmandu (Thamel) at significantly lower prices compared to Australia or the UK.
  • All your food is included during the trek and is of good quality; it is recommended to opt for the vegetarian option.
  • Ace will provide filtered water at lunch stops and tea houses in the evenings and mornings, but remember to use filtered water for brushing your teeth as well.
  • Carry some local currency on the trek, as you'll find decent espresso coffee and chocolate bars for a treat at most stops along the way.
  • Most tea houses offer inexpensive charging options for your devices, but it's also helpful to carry a power bank.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to Prem Bahadur Tamang and the entire team at Sole Encounters Trekking for their utmost professionalism as a local business. I wholeheartedly recommend them without hesitation

Everest Base Camp and Gokyo

3rd November, 2023

This was my first trekking trip and I was a little nervous about what to expect, however I had the most amazing experience.

We completed the trek to Everest Base Camp via Gokyo lakes and the Chola Pass, which was tough but ultimately rewarding. Prem and his team looked after us, literally every step of the way. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they provided both moral and practical support.

It is not often I would say this - but by the end of the trip we had become firm friends. I can't recommend them enough. A wonderful trip

Fantastic

3rd November, 2023

A group of nine of us embarked on the Gokyo via Everest Base Camp Trek, and along the way, we forged wonderful new friendships with fellow trekkers, guides, and supporters.

Our head guide, Prem, was remarkably energetic and attentive, as were the entire team. They consistently put our needs before theirs, often staying up later and waking up earlier than us. Sushil, the trainer guide, exuded cool confidence and showed great promise. Nima Tamang was a wealth of knowledge, and Amrit never failed to lift our spirits with his encouraging words. One of our supporter crew members may well become a guide in the future - his strong command of English, comedic skills, and dancing prowess are impressive!

Thanks for everything!

The stunning vistas from Gokyo Ri and the fifth lake left us in awe, and crossing Chola Pass offered us not only picturesque landscapes but also an unforgettable experience. Our guide and porters were exceptional, offering unwavering support throughout the trek.

Reaching Everest Base Camp was a rewarding achievement, serving as a crucial milestone for climbers. Our incredible crew's patience and enthusiasm made the entire trek a smooth and enjoyable experience
